The name means 'the flower of flowers' the bewitching odour of the flower is an aphrodisiac.
The essential oil of Ylang-Ylang reinforces the nervous system, it is calming, relaxing and can be used against stress, over-work, depression, emotional shock, and hysteria. It is also used to combat chronic anxiety, it calms anguish and nervous tension, anger and irritability. It is also used to surpass the feelings of solitude. It is soothing, calms excitability, fears, moods, and is used in the case of grief.
It is used to treat insomnia, nervousness, it calms headaches and helps to release frustrations. It should be used in the detox process of addicts. It is balancing and slightly euphoric. It is calming on the sympathetic system.
It is an antiseptic for the lungs and is used against respiratory infections. It slows and regulates the breath.
On the digestive system, Ylang-Ylang essential oil is used to treat gastro-enteritis, as well as stomach ache due to nervousness.
It is a tonic and calms the heart. It calms heart palpitations, and regulates the heart rhythm. It is used to treat hypertension and diminishes arterial tension. It is also used to treat diabetes.
Ylang-Ylang is also used to treat muscular trauma.
This oil is aphrodisiac and is used as a sexual tonic, it is used to treat impotence and frigidity. Also used to treat painful menstruation, premenstrual syndrome and menopause. It regulates the production of hormones.
On the urinary system, it is used to treat urinary tract infection.
For the skin it is used to balance oily skin and for skin protection. It is active against insect bites. Used as a scalp massage, it is a hair tonic, and stimulates hair growth. It balances the production of sebum, It is a tonic for the skin and is also used to repair brittle nails.
Massage:
Ylang-Ylang mixes well with Bergamot, Lemon, Jasmine, Mandarin, Orange, Neroli, Grapefruit, Patchouli, Rose and Sandal.
Dosage:
For internal use a maximum i=of 6 drops per day.
Precautions:
This oil is not recommended for those suffering from hypo-tension. At strong doses it is narcotic to certain persons, use in moderation. Its intense odour can produce headaches or nausea in certain persons.
It can be used instead of Lavender Essential Oil.
